All – DOE2.2 documentation (see below) indicates it is possible to
specify circulation loop fluid properties for fluids other than water (also, fluid
heat capacity is reported in PV-A, which seems to indicate this parameter
should be adjustable). The keywords in the documentation are FLUID (acceptable
values WATER, ETHYLENE-GLYCOL, PROPYLENE-GLYCOL) and FLUID-CONC (%) to specify
fluid type and its concentration. I don’t see any place to specify these
parameters in any of the wizards or the Detailed Design mode. I tried editing
the keywords into the definitions of the CHW and HW circulation loops in the input
file, which generated UNKNOWN KEYWORD errors (curiously, only for the FLUID
keyword, not FLUID-CONC). Does eQuest constrain the user to 100% H2O or is there
some way to affect these values? Is FLUID not the right keyword (FLUID-TYPE
doesn’t work)? Should the fluids be defined somewhere other than in the
definition of the circulation loop? Documentation can be found by entering the DOE2 help screen
and selecting CIRCULATION-LOOP in the index, which provides several options to
display. Select “circulation-Loop” (note non-standard
capitalization) and you will get a list of subtopics to select from. Select “Brines”
and from the subtopics at the bottom of the resulting screen, select “Actual
Fluid”. The keywords noted above should be available from there. Thanks for any insights. R.
